Directions to Rodanthe Watersports and Campground

 

North East Virginia Area

Take I-64 East and head towards the Chesapeake area, then take Hwy 168 South, to Hwy 158 South, follow 158 South heading towards Nags Head and then take Hwy 12 South towards Cape Hatteras. It’s important to follow the signs that say Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

When you reach Hwy 12 South you will travel about 30 miles South crossing over the Orgeon Inlet Bridge about half-way. We are the first town you enter on Hatteras Island. We are located just past the Chicamacomico Water tower on the right. Look for the blue camping sign, kayaks and waverunners by the road.

 

Middle Virigina Area

Take I-95 South into the North Carolina Rocky Mount area. Then take Hwy 64 East. Follow Hwy 64 East all the way to the Outer Banks. (It’s about 3.5 hours) As you reach the area you will need to stay to the right and follow the signs for Cape Hatteras National Seashore Hwy 12.

When you reach Hwy 12 South you will travel about 30 miles South crossing over the Orgeon Inlet Bridge about half way. We are the first town you enter on Hatteras Island. Raleigh Area

Take Hwy 64 East. Follow Hwy 64 East all the way to the Outer Banks. (It’s about 3.5 hours) As you reach the area you will need to stay to the right and follow the signs for Cape Hatteras National Seashore Hwy 12.

Western North Carolina

Take I-40 East towards the Raleigh area. In Raleigh take I-440 to I-64 East.

Follow I-64 East all the way to the Outer Banks. (It’s about 3.5 hours) As you reach the area you will need to stay to the right and follow the signs for Cape Hatteras National Seashore Hwy 12.

Southern North Carolina

Take Hwy 17 North Toward Jacksonville and Washington. Then take Hwy 64 East toward the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

When you reach Hwy 12 South you will travel about 30 miles South crossing over the Orgeon Inlet Bridge about half way. We are the first town you enter on Hatteras Island. We are located just past the Chicamacomico Water tower on the right. Look for the blue camping sign, kayaks and waverunners by the road.

Another route you may use is Hwy 17 North to Hwy 70 East and use the NC DOT Ferry system to travel to Hwy 12 by Cedar Island, Ocracoke Island to Hatteras Island. (This is a coastal way to go and may be slower depending on the season) You will need reservations for the Cedar Island Ferry. 1-800-by-ferry.

Once you reach Hatteras Island you will need to follow Hwy 12 North to Rodanthe (about 45 miles). We will be just past Lisa Pizzeria on the left.
